Snow or Cold – Night or Shine,
Those in Battle cannot Whine.
Sayings come as History Done,
In this Instance – Here is One.
Cannonballs upon a Ship,
In a Frame – Would not Slip.
Tray of Brass – Kind of Funky,
In that Time – Called a “Monkey.”
In Cold Weather Brass would Shrink,
Balls would Spill – In a Wink.
Balls then Fall and go Clunky,
“Freeze the Balls off a Brass Monkey.”
Cannon Training was a Must,
Prime Advice all could Trust.
When Cold Balls were ever Slung,
Do Not warm them With your Tongue!
