Remember the “Penny” when it had some clout,
now it’s near worthless – what’s that all about?
Used to buy candies in jars from the stores,
and other small treasures I’d stuff in my drawers.
Now 100 pennies buys little at all,
and what you get for them is so very small.
It costs more to make them than what they are worth,
they are more a hassle and bring little mirth.
Perhaps we should rid them and make them no more,
but phasing them out would be no easy chore.
But once they were gone would the nickel be next?
not for today so I’ll end with this text:
Round down for a purchase,
round up for a wage,
and move our finances,
into the next stage.
